Introducing the New Safe and Well Oxford Plan

It builds on the original Safe and Well Oxford Plan from 2021.

OXFORD - Oxford County has released its newly updated Safe and Well Oxford Plan.

It plan highlights six priority risks for coordinated action including mental health and well being, housing, people and belonging, substance use, gender-based violence, and affordability.

It also details different strategies in order to address these topics through partnership, prevention and coordinated action.

Warden Marcus Ryan says this updated plan builds on the one that was created in 2021, and while also reflecting community input, emerging local needs, and lessons we've learn over the past few years.

"Community safety and well-being is something we build together by listening to residents, working across sectors, and focusing on collective action that helps people access what they need to live fully. The updated Safe and Well Oxford Plan gives our municipalities and community partners a shared path forward to address the risks that matter most to people in Oxford, from mental health and housing to belonging, substance use, gender-based violence, and affordability. By coordinating our efforts and keeping lived experience at the centre, we can help create safe, inclusive, and more supportive communities across Oxford County."

Warden Ryan also serves as the Chair of the Safe and Well Oxford Steering Committee.

Each community in the province is required to have a safety and well-being plan, according to Ontario’s Community Safety and Policing Act.
