A four part speaker series will be hosted by ISAN, and it gets underway tomorrow in Ingersoll.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Indigenous Solidarity & Awareness Network- Oxford is hosting a speaker series.
Founder of ISAN, Patricia Marshal-Desutter speaks to what the series is going to entail for all that come out to the events.
"So, throughout the year we will hosting four sessions that unpacked the legacies of colonialism. Our first session will be tomorrow, which is the day of after Earth Day and it's titled Mother Earth and Colonial Violence."
Marshal-Desutter says the guest speaker will be Mary Lou Smoke, who really enjoys talking about the true history of her people and bridging the cultural gap between Native and non Native people. She adds who the sessions will be geared towards.
"We won't turn anybody away, but with the context it's probably 16 plus, but we understand that everybody is at a different space in their learning journey, and there are some people younger than that, that may participate."
The session tomorrow will connect the MMIWG2S+ crisis to Resource Extraction and Environmental Degradation. It will be from 6 until 8 p.m. at Ingersoll's Town Hall.
