WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Royal Canadian Legion Branch number 55 located on Brant Street is for sale.
Heart FM spoke with the Legion President Stan Winston who says the membership voted to sell the building. " We had a meeting last week with our membership where they approved the selling of the building, most of the members recognized it is beyond our current needs and our ability to support it."
Winston says they are not disbanding by any means and will be looking for a new place to call home. He notes the building is too large for the current membership.
"This building was built for when we had a membership of approximately 2000 and our membership has now declined to 500, so it's a much larger facility then we need and it is aging so we are looking to get an up to date facility that is more sized to the needs of our current members."
The building was listed earlier this week.
