Lessif joins Board of Directors of Ontario Association of Community Futures Development Corporations.
TILLSONBURG -- Former Mayor of Tillsonburg, John Lessif has taken on a new role.
Lessif joined the Board of Directors of Ontario Association of Community Futures Development Corporations (OACFDC) and is continuing to serve on the Board of Directors of the Oxford Small Business Support Centre in Ingersoll -- a Community Futures Development Corporation (CFDC).
The Ingersoll branch is one of 61 CFDCs across rural Ontario.
The OACFDC brings together the Community Future Development Corporations from across Ontario to share best practices and work together as a whole in an effort to better Ontario's non-urban areas. The Association provides services to their member CFDCs, acts as an advocacy group, and offers professional development.
In a recent release, Lessif says as a director on the board representing eight member CFDCs, he wants to act as their voice on issues which will strengthen each of their organizations. "I look forward to the opportunity to bring my business, community and political experience to the OACFDC Board as a Director."
Further to that, he says one of his main goals is to maximize the funding from FedDev Ontario.
At the end of April 2014, Lessif announced that he was stepping down as Mayor of Tillsonburg for personal reasons. He was elected into the role in October 2010.
Lessif has an extensive business background including co-owner of a small business and McDonald's Restaurant Franchisee. He has also sat on a number of boards and chaired the South Central Ontario Region Economic Development Corp and Sand Plains Steering Committee.
