A talk about Indigenous life and culture is coming to the Oxford County Library - Tillsonburg Branch.
TILLSONBURG - The Local History Speaker Series is making a return to Oxford County.
On Thursday, September 26th, the Oxford County Library - Tillsonburg Branch will host a talk with Robyn Michaud about her family history and personal journey to reclaim her Indigenous culture. She hopes people will take a lot away from her presentation.
"The reaction of people in town is just so appreciative because they never had a chance to learn that, and that was my experience growing up. I tell people in the presentation, it's not anything against the teacher we had, you don't know what you don't know, and those teachers never had an opportunity to learn how to bring that into their curriculum."
Michaud says there is one major goal she hopes can be reached by doing the speaker series.
"Everybody's welcome, and that I think it is going to be, for me it's so important Indigenous people and non-Indigenous people come together in mutual respect and understanding."
Registration is required and you can sign up for the in-person event by clicking here. There is also a live Zoom option, and you can register for that here. The event runs from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m.
