It was the ending to the season the U18 B Woodstock Wildcats wanted. They came home provincial champions.
WOODSTOCK - A group of girls from Woodstock are golden.
The U18 B Woodstock Wildcats went to Mississauga last weekend to take part in the provincial championships. The team played 6 games and Head Coach, Mike McMahon says the mindset the girls had wanted a championship.
"We could have been happy, as we say in the provincial tournament, punch your ticket to the championship game and pick your colour of medal. The girls really wanted to pick gold as the colour of medal."
McMahon adds the finals against Stittsville was tied at 1 until late in the game when they were able to score the game-winning goal. McMahon says there was lots of growth with this group.
"This is a team where all but two of the girls were in either their rookie year or second year."
McMahon adds it was an honour to coach the girls and see how seriously they took the tournament.
