South-West Oxford Mayor and Oxford County Warden David Mayberry is the newest member of the Catfish Creek Conservation Authority.
SOUTH-WEST OXFORD - The Catfish Creek Conservation Authority welcomes South-West Oxford Mayor David Mayberry to the team.
He was appointed the role after the unexpected passing of Councillor Anne Vanhoucke. Mayberry explains how the council selects a replacement under the circumstances.
"With her passing County Council had to appoint someone. South-West Oxford had to ask somebody to fill in and suggested that it be me for the next few months until the next election and we have another appointed."
With past experience on other conservation authorities, both South-West Oxford Council and Oxford County Council felt Mayberry was best suited for the job.
"It's one of those things were the county appoints a person but the lower tier gets to submit the recommendation and so that was the recommendation and the county's agreed to it."
Mayberry looks forward for the opportunity to sit on the Catfish Creek board.
