Oxford County residents are being impacted by Mental Illness Awareness Week in a good way.
People in Oxford county have been speaking up, standing up, and supporting each other during Mental Illness Awareness Week.
Executive Director for the CMHA Oxford Mike McMahon says something as simple as a conversation has a big impact.
"It becomes a normal conversation for someone to have that gives them a chance to say, 'Do you know where I can get help with this issue?' And I think those are the conversations that are free from stigma for people will addictions and mental health issues that we really look forward to."
McMahon says they offer many services, but they want to keep striving to do even better.
"I believe the effort ought to be continued along that focus where every door you go to is the right door and it's not that you have to learn to use the system, the system is there to serve you and we will coordinated so you don't have to look all over the place."
Some of the services they offer include Reach Out 24-7 as well as their walk-in counselling sessions throughout Oxford County.
