Camping Ontario has presented the Willow Lake Campground and RV Park in Woodstock with the Small Campground of the year award.
WOODSTOCK - The Willow Lake Campground and RV Park in Woodstock has won the small Campground of the Year award from Camping Ontario.
New Owners Mark and Melanie Jaycock took over the park this year and have made a number of big changes. Mark Jaycock says they wanted to come in right away and make some changes to enchance the camping experience.
"It was an exciting year because we had a beautiful park that we purchased that just needed some TLC and a bit of new energy. So we did some things like a new playground, we created a games room for families that has air hockey and foosball. We replaced all of the fixtures in the park with energy efficient lighting, low flow fixtures in the washrooms and we did a lot of painting to just sort of freshen up the park."
They also took on a charitable role by donating the proceeds from all of the bottles they collected this summer to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Woodstock.
"We also did things with the community, things like partnering with Big Brothers Big Sisters, we participated in the Kids for Cops event, it was a lot of really family focused activities this summer."
Jaycock says they were thrilled to win the award this year and are excited for the upcoming camping season.
