OLG's first quarter payment to the Friendly City comes in at $364 000.
WOODSTOCK - The City of Woodstock is the big winner thanks to the OLG as they handed over $364 000 for the first quarter payment in non-tax gaming revenue.
Throughout the next year the province is predicted to allocate $115 million towards charities and the Ontario Trillium Foundation. $15.2 million has been given to the city since the OLG slots at Woodstock Raceway opened their doors in 1999. OLG spends nearly 2 billion dollars every year on hospitals in the province as well as government priorities, and provides the province with their largest source of non-taxable revenue. Health care and education are the two key causes that directly benefit the most from having the OLG in place.
While a vast amount of money is spent in the community, nearly $40 million goes into researching, treating, and preventing the ever growing problem of gambling addictions. Those that do suffer from a gambling problem can visit the link for assistance www.problemgamblinghelpline.ca
