One person has died in a house fire on Berwick Street in Woodstock.
WOODSTOCK - The damage is estimated at about $150,000 after a house fire on Berwick Street in Woodstock.
Lisa Woods, the Public Information Coordinator with the Woodstock Fire Department, says a neighbour called 911 at 11:42 a.m. yesterday after they saw smoke coming from the rear of the house.
Woods says only one person was in the home at the time.
"Our initial search did find one individual that was then transported to hospital where they succumbed to their injuries."
She says the investigation is still ongoing at this time.
"We have notified the Ontario Fire Marshal. They will be on scene later this morning and we will be conducting our investigation into the origin and cause of this fire."
Woods would like to remind everyone to check their smoke and carbon monoxide alarms to make sure they are in working order.
