The Ontario Liberals now have their highest seat count in the Legislature since 2018, after winning the ridings of Scarborough-Guildwood and Kanata-Carleton yesterday.
ONTARIO - The Liberals have won two provincial byelections in Ontario.
Andrea Hazell will become the Liberal MPP for Scarborough-Guildwood and Karen McCrimmon will represent residents in the Kanata-Carleton riding.
The PC Party placed second in both elections, followed by the NDP in third place.
With the addition of two more seats the Liberals now have nine seats in the Legislature, their highest seat count in the Legislature since 2018. However, they still fall short of having official party status.
Merrilee Fullerton resigned as the Conservative MPP for Kanata-Carleton in March. Mitzie Hunter stepped down as the Liberal MPP for the Scarborough-Guildwood riding in the spring so she could run in the Toronto mayoral election.
