The Ontario NDP want a public inquiry into the safety and security of long term care homes to expand it's scope.
The Ontario New Democrats have introduced a private members bill that will ask for a more broad approach to a public inquiry into the safety and security of long term care facilities in the province.
Justice Eileen Gillese will lead an independent public inquiry into the systemic issues that may have lead to the assaults and deaths at the hand of former Woodstock nurse Elizabeth Wettlaufer.
If passed the bill will require the inquiry to expand its focus to staffing levels, quality of care and the government funding of long term care homes.
The public inquiry is expected to come to an end in 2019.
