You can stop by South Gate Centre this Saturday to check out the new 13,000 sq ft expansion.
WOODSTOCK - South Gate Centre is inviting everyone to an open house highlighting the new 13,000 sq ft expansion, also known as The Reeves.
Members of the public are welcome stop by this Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. so they check out the self guided tours, live program demonstrations, and more.
Executive Director Chris Cunningham says a lot of people are excited to see their new event space, the Boughtflower Great Hall.
"It will hold up to 450 people and it is beautiful! There are chandeliers on the high ceilings and the entire south wall is windows looking out onto the park with the trees as a backdrop. It is gorgeous!"
The hall is also divisible by three, so it can host multiple events at once.
This expansion has been in the works for quite some time now and Cunningham would like to give a special shoutout to the City of Woodstock.
"They heard our vision, they shared the vision and they made it happen! So to all of the city staff members and city councillors, this is a gem in their crown and in the crown of Woodstock! It belongs to everyone here and it is an incredible space."
The expansion had a budget of $9 million, with $7.8 million from the City and South Gate Centre fundraising the remaining $1.2 million. The construction contract came in under budget at $7,178,890 including HST and shovels hit the ground in July of 2024.
