OPP Wraps Up Traffic Blitz

Provincial police say seven people were killed in seven separate collisions on OPP-patrolled roads and highways over the Victoria Day long weekend. The OPP also laid about 8000 charges during the period, including more than 6300 speeding tickets. Here in Oxford County, OPP laid 232 speeding charges. 21 drivers were hit with distracted driving violations, 12 failed to wear seatbelts and there was one impaired driver. Other stats from the long weekend include: Drive While Prohibited ? one charge Racing (Highway Traffic Act) ? one charge Careless Driving ? two charges Fail to Yield ? 11 charges
