There will be three Relay For Life fundraisers in Oxford County during the month of June.
OXFORD COUNTY - There will be three big Relay For Life's in Oxford next month. The Tillsonburg relay will be on June 3rd, followed by Woodstock's on June 10th and Ingersoll's on June 24th.
Community Fundraising Specialist with the Canadian Cancer Society of Oxford Liz Wismer-Van Meer tells us what's in store for the Woodstock relay.
"Live entertainment, bands are playing, Dan Henry is our MC and always lines up great entertainment for us each and every year and we have some fun theme laps getting people out and having fun with that."
Wismer-Van Meer says the relays raise cancer awareness and allows people to celebrate those who have beaten it.
"We want to celebrate and have some fun and be there for the cause but also realize that there are many survivors these days. Survival rates are increasing and we are seeing more and more survivors so we want to celebrate that and have some fun."
Wismer-Van Meer adds there's no longer a limit as to how big teams have to be to participate.
"In the past there used to be a minimum number of team members but this year it's changed to whatever number of people you have on your team so if you have a team of two or a team of twenty."
