Already in 2019, a total of 7 transport trucks have become stuck or hit the overpass at the 17th Line bridge in Zorra Township.
ZORRA TOWNSHIP - Oxford OPP are spending some time at the 17th Line Overpass in Zorra Township today.
They are watching to make sure that no commercial vehicles try to clear the overpass. Already in 2019, a total of 7 transport trucks have become stuck or hit the overpass.
The bridge is clearly marked in both directions. Officers are spending some time at the overpass to ensure that drivers are aware of the height restrictions.
Tips for drivers on how to avoid Low Clearance Bridges and Overpasses:
- If you have a GPS unit specifically made for commercial motor vehicles, keep the updates updated-
- Don't rely on the unit exclusively unless you want to run the risk of getting wedged under a bridge and have to deal with an embarrassing situation, a fine, and the potential loss of your cargo
- Have another reliable source that you can consult like a good map book or truckers atlas
- Pay attention to road clearance signs
OPP Detachment Commander, Inspector Anthony Hymers says this collision was preventable.
This is the scene where transport trucks have failed to clear the overpass and have become stuck. It's happened 7 times in 2019. #OxfordOPP officers are very visible at the 17th Line overpass in @ZorraTwp today to ensure drivers are aware of the height restrictions. ^dr pic.twitter.com/dV3vNXgoV1
