The Oxford OPP are giving you an opportunity to safely dispose of unwanted medication and keep it out of the hands of kids.
NORWICH - The Oxford OPP will be hosting a prescription drug drop off day in Norwich.
Constable Lisa Naranscik tells Heart FM they want to you turn in your old and unused prescription medication so it can be disposed of safely.
"It just will prevent the possibility of maybe misuse of the prescription drugs, or theft of the prescription drugs that maybe don't belong to the person they are prescribed for. When we're teaching young people we always talk about prescription drugs."
Recent studies indicate 24 percent of teens reported misusing prescription medications at least once within the previous year. Most of the teens took the medication from their family home.
The drop off is happening at the Norwich Fire Hall on Main Street from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on Saturday. Naranscik says they wanted to make the whole process as easy as possible.
"It's basically a drive in and drop off. We will not take any of your information, any prescription drugs can be disposed of, we will have a Sharpies container on scene as well so if you have any needles that you need to dispose of we have that option available as well."
