A heavy police presence in Woodstock leads to one person being taken into custody
WOODSTOCK - A shelter-in-place was in effect for a part of Woodstock.
Early this morning, both the OPP West Region and Woodstock Police Service posted on their social media that the area of Huron Street, between Knightsbridge Road and Ingersoll Avenue, and Ingersoll Avenue between Sutherland Drive and Sydenham Street was under a shelter-in-place due to an investigation of a potential armed person.
On the OPP West Region Facebook page, it is said that there is one person in custody after the police responded to the area, and the shelter-in-place is no longer in effect. It is also being said that a police presence in the area could be expected as the on-scene investigation remains ongoing at this time.
Police say there is no threat to the public, and residents in the area can get back to their regular activities. Updates about this incident will be provided once more information becomes available.
