Police say an individual was telling motorists he had ran out of gas, asking for money, debit cards, or to follow the drivers to an ATM in exchange for a piece of his jewelry.
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are reminding the public to call police immediately if they encounter suspicious persons or activity in their community.
On December 23, 2023, police received reports of an unknown person approaching members of the public at Oxford Road 5 and Maplewood Sideroad in East Zorra Tavistock.
Callers described the unknown person as male, 30-40 years of age, with tan skin and being well-dressed. The unknown individual was telling motorists he had ran out of gas and was asking for money, debit cards, or to follow the drivers to an ATM in exchange for a piece of his jewelry.
Police are continuing to investigate and is seeking assistance from the public. If anyone has any information regarding this incident, contact the Oxford OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122.
