Pollinative is Set to Protect Our Bees

With it's first pollinator field in Oxford County, Pollinative is set to protect birds, bees and butterflies.

WOODSTOCK - The birds, bees and butterflies now have safe home in Oxford County.

Pollinative Pathways has created a new pollinator field off Middletown Line between the 401 and 403.

Founding Director Rick Tusch says it is vital to help pollinators.

"Pollinator fields are essential to the basics of life. They're actually the start of the food chain. Without insects there's no birds, because the birds need to feed their young with insects and those insects are gone."

This is the 10th pollinator field grown by the group, and the first in Oxford.

Tusch says it all started as a home project.

"We started at my own place because the insect and bird populations are crashing throughout Southwestern Ontario and throughout North America. So I thought we'd start at my own place and we planted my own place into a pollinator field with about 50 different plants that are native to Ontario."

The land was donated by Fahri Holdings.
