The County of Oxford has received an AA+ credit rating from Standard and Poor.
OXFORD COUNTY - It shouldn't be too hard for the County of Oxford to apply for a loan in the future.
Standard and Poor has given the County an AA+ credit rating and a stable outlook. Warden David Mayberry says the positive credit rating means that all of our books are properly set and our reserves are in a good position.
"Our debt to equity is an ideal position and we are in a good position moving forward as far as being able to fund projects as they come along and being able to take on any responsibility that is there."
Mayberry says a good credit rating would also make it easier to apply for a loan. He tells Heart FM why he thinks the County has such a favourable credit rating.
"We have consistently tried to make sure that our tax increases were fair and equitable and we didn't run away when we had to ask people for more money and that we haven't spent beyond our means, we try to create programs that users pay for their service, particularly in water and waste water."
