WOODSTOCK - One local family is looking for some help on getting their book published.
After writing a new book called "My Love Will Follow You There," they have set up a Go Fund Me page to help cover costs.
Author Carla Garrett says the page was created so they could raise enough money to print the hard copies and have them given out for free.
"We're really trying to get the money to print hard copies of the book so that we can give them to the families who need them for free. We don't want families to have to pay for a book like this, especially for the 100 we want to be able to give out for free. So the Go Fund Me page is essentially to have people help get these hard cover books in the hands of the people who need them."
Carla and her husband Mark released the book last month, which helps children cope with the end of life.
After being unsuccessful in their search of finding a publisher, Garrett says they partnered with a book printer in Toronto due to the book's specific type of hard cover.
"We tried. We were kind of hoping that we could find a book publisher because book printing is a little bit different from a lot of the printing companies we have locally because we would have went there but the specific type of hard cover we're getting has to go to a book printer. We did end up partnering with one, it's in London, but they're big supporters of children's hospitals and they already do their own donations to them so we kind of liked that connection with them."
They're currently sitting at $2,000.00. The book has already been sent off to the printer for publishing, however they are looking to raise another $1,000.00 to cover the costs.
For anyone who is interested in making a donation, their Go Fund Me page is available here. And to learn how the book was created, more information can be found here.
