OXFORD COUNTY - R.A.K.Everywhere has set up shop in Woodstock to provide random acts of kindness for those in the city. The group is attempting to branch out and has been asking for public support as they provide items such as personal cleaning supplies to shelters. Co-founder of R.A.K.Everywhere, Lorri Horton, explains what they have accomplished in a short time period. "We've got about 8-10 people that we can count on, but we are always looking for more help. Almost 100 percent of the money that comes in goes right back out again. We try to keep cost down to the bare minimum, we have been accomplishing a lot especially with social media, we just want it to be positive."
Horton is proud to be able to say that nearly 100% of the money they raise goes back into the community and she explains how this came to be. "We don't want to turn anyone away, we used to do it just privately then when we started doing RAKE. We thought why can't we take this to a whole new level, base it in Woodstock, and then what we want to do is branch out. If we can get more people on board, the more people we can help." Eventually they are hoping to extend their services as far as the greater Toronto area.
The husband and wife combination formed idea on paper first, then decided to create the organization. Horton is prepared to assist those from all walks of life and did just that during the past holiday season. "We were lucky enough to provide a Christmas for a local man whose child was very sick, and he had lost his wife very unexpectedly. We as well collect sample bottles from hotels, so we can hand them out to those in need. Every time we do something we leave a card behind to pay it forward. It is getting bigger and better it seems every month." Different events are held around the year to raise money such as a comedy night for more information on the group and how to get in contact with the Horton's you can visit the link. http://www.rakeverywhere.org/
