Tomorrow is the last day to vote on a referendum for health care cuts.
WOODSTOCK - The Oxford County Health Coalition and the Oxford Coalition for Social Justice are asking everyone to vote this weekend.
A cross province, volunteer led referendum is taking place right now to save local hospital services and stop the cuts to community hospitals. Spokesperson for the Coalition Bryan Smith tells Heart FM why they think this referendum is so important.
"We have heard from people all over Oxford that are being denied the type of care that they expected from hospitals, that is supposed to be covered under Medicare at our local hospitals."
The actual ballot question is Ontario's Government must stop the cuts to our community hospitals and restore services funding and staff and people get to just say yes or no. Smith says the cuts need to stop.
"The question is really about asking the government to stop the cuts they are doing to hospitals, for the last 9 years they have been cutting the funds that go to hospitals, which means that hospitals have been losing their ability to provide the kinds of care and services that people need from them."
The last day to vote is on Saturday and the coalition will be releasing the Oxford County results at the Museum Square Fountain on Monday at 11 am.
