With 24 years of Tillsonburg politics under his belt, a well known politician is looking to add four more years.
TILLSONBURG - A well known Tillsonburg politician is looking to add a seventh term under his belt.
Dave Beres is currently the Deputy Mayor, but he has also been a councillor and the Mayor in his 24 year tenure.
"I happen to have a Main Street storefront with my name on it. People come in from time to time talking about issues and they can come in without an appointment. That has always been an advantage for me because I can keep my thumb on the pulse of the community."
He is hoping to secure a councillor position this time around.
Beres has many highlights over his long political career and is especially happy with the progress the Physician Recruitment Committee has made.
"In the last two years we have acquired three new family physicians to the town and they're going to stay. We're just getting started with that program so I hope that if I'm re-elected I continue to chair that committee and it will be successful for the people and their health care needs."
Beres would also like to keep taxes within the inflation level, encourage more economic growth and help maintain the town's infrastructure.
