The new Sikh Temple land was officially transferred from Kingsmen Group to Sri Guru Singh Sabha on Saturday at the newly named Khalsa Drive.
WOODSTOCK - It is an exciting time for the Sikh Community in Oxford County.
On Saturday, the new Sikh Temple land transferred from Kingsmen group to Sri Guru Singh Sabha Woodstock. This is is the site of the new place of worship for the Sikh community.
Woodstock City council was well represented at the event on Saturday with Mayor Trevor Birtch, Councillor Deb Tait, Councillor Jerry Acchione, Councillor Sandra Talbot, Councilor Mark Schadenberg, Councillor Connie Launder and Woodstock Police Service in attendance.
They gathered at the new Gurudwara Sahib Site at the corner of Oxford 17 and 14th Line. Councillors were on hand to reveal the new name for the street at "Khalsa Drive" which was approved by council last year.
The Sri Guru Singh Sabha working committee also managed to raise funds for the Woodstock Hospital Foundation and collect food donations for the local Salvation Army at the event.
Construction on the new temple will start next year.
