Over $39,000 was raised during the Smile Cookie Campaign for the VON Sakura House.
WOODSTOCK - The Smile Cookie campaign in Woodstock raised over $39,000 for the VON Sakura House.
Proceeds from the cookie sales at the Tim Horton's locations in Woodstock during a week in September went towards the local hospice. Manager, Fund Development for VON Catherine Dorais-Plesko tells Heart FM that Tim Horton's has been a huge supporter of the hospice.
"We've been very fortunate that the local Tim Horton's have been extremely generous in supporting us, the owners in the Woodstock have been supporting us since 2008."
She says all of the money raised will go towards the daily operations at the end of life care facility just outside of Woodstock.
"If the roof leaks, we need to raise money to fix that, all the furnishings, if they get worn and we need to get new ones, the programs, the bereavement programs are all made possible thanks to our generous donors."
Chair of the VON Oxford Community Corporation says every cookie did make difference.
"It is thanks to the generosity of our community, like the Woodstock Tim Horton's Restaurants and everyone who bought a Smile Cookie, that VON Sakura House can offer palliative care services in Oxford County."
