Lion's pool will be a busy spot this summer as Southside Pool closes for renovations.
WOODSTOCK - Southside Pool will be closed for renovations this summer.
Work is being done on the pool's mechanical systems, the deck area, and an accessibility ramp is being installed. The pool basin is also being completely redone and they are raising the base of the deep end by a couple of feet.
Funding for this project was approved in the 2016 capital budget. In the end it is costing the city $971,607. Mayor Trevor Birtch says they came in under budget.
"The goods news out of all of this is we came in $150,000 under budget for the citizens of Woodstock."
Director of Parks and Recreation Brian Connors says the pool itself will be closed while the work is being done.
"Starting on June 14th the pool will be closed and we are hoping to get it reopened by October the 3rd."
The outdoor splash pad and wading pool at Southside will remain open to the public. All of Southside's programming will be moved over to Lion's Pool during the closure.
