The public is invited to watch the tulips bloom at the Dutch - Canadian Friendship Tulip Garden in Zorra Township on Wednesday May 25th.
ZORRA TOWNSHIP - There will be a tulip blooming ceremony at the Township of Zorra Office this Wednesday May 25th.
Zorra was one of 140 communities across the country, to receive 70th Anniversary Dutch - Canadian Tulip Garden from the Canadian Gardening Council.
Township Clerk Ashley Sage explains the purpose behind this garden.
"The garden is to celebrate the first gift of 100,000 Dutch tulip bulbs that were sent to Canadians in 1945 as a symbol of appreciation for the role Canadian soldiers played in the liberation of the Netherlands and the hospitality that Canada provided to the Dutch Royal Family in Ottawa during World War 2."
The ceremony will begin at 10am and there will be some light refreshments. If the ceremony gets rained out it will take place the next day instead.
Sage adds the garden is a breathtaking.
"Right now the actually tulips are just starting to bloom so it looks beautiful so when we have people out on Wednesday everyone can come and see how beautiful it is and check out the really nice flowers."
The Township of Zorra office is located on 27 Line, North West of Ingersoll.
