Perth County OPP believe a middle aged man is trying to lure young girls into his car in the region.
Earlier this week we told you about a middle aged man who tried to lure a young teen into his car in Mitchell.
Now Perth County OPP believe the same man may have tried the same tactic to a girl in East London on the same day. Police were called after the initial report came out on Monday by someone who witnessed a similar incident on Dundas Street near Veterans Memorial Parkway. The first incident happened in Mitchell on Monday morning before school and the one in London happened on Monday afternoon after school. Police do believe it was the same man in both cases.
In the Mitchell case the man asked the girl if she wanted a ride because she was going to be late for school and that he had just gotten off the phone with her father. That was a complete lie and the girl did the right thing, refusing the like and continuing her walk to school. The stranger continued to follow her to school and was last seen heading southbound on Nelson Street.
The details regarding the London incident are scarce at this time and police are still hoping to speak with the young woman who was approached in London.
Police are looking for a white man believed to be between the ages of 30 and 40, wearing a light shirt, black curly, puffy hair and wrap around sunglasses. He was driving a clean black older model four door car with a silver strip near the doors.
The Perth County OPP requests the public assistance in identifying the male and the vehicle involved in this incident. Anyone with information is requested to contact the Perth County OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), and you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.
"The Perth County OPP wants to remind our communities about “Stranger Safety." It is very important to teach our children how to react if someone tries to take them or lure them into a vehicle. Education is the key and there are several discussions parents can have with their children regarding stranger awareness. One key element is to reinforce that children should never accept rides from strangers."
