The Tavistock Braves didn't go down without a fight after being eliminated from the Schmaltz Cup in Glanbrook last night.
TAVISTOCK - The Tavistock Braves magical season has ended after an Overtime thriller in Glanbrook.
Tavistock lost 2-1 last night and have been eliminated from the Schmaltz Cup playoffs after winning the PJHL Doherty Division. General Manager Jordan Zehr says he was really proud of the boys last night.
"I thought we played a great game, we came to win, it was do or die, they put it all on the line but ultimately we just couldn't capitalize on a lot of our chances and that is what happens in a tight game like that, they got a quick one on us in overtime, it's unfortunate but that is the way it goes some times."
Tavistock had their best game of the series last night allowing only 2 goals after getting blown out in the first three games. Zehr says the loss to Glanbrook was tough to take but it doesn't diminish the amazing season the Braves had this year.
"It's tough, I mean the guys were down but at the end of the year we have a lot to be proud of. We had a very good year, I know a lot of people didn't really expect us to be where we are at, finishing last year in 7th place to climbing up into second and into the Schmaltz Cup rounds is something to be really proud of. It was an unbelievable year and we are really excited to get things going next year again."
Zehr says they are going to lose some key guys next year and will have to make some tough decisions on their roster. He thinks they will have a great team once again next year.
