TDMH started accepting patients again over the weekend. Previously they had only been accepting critical care patients during the COVID-19 outbreak.
TILLSONBURG - The Tillsonburg Memorial Hospital started taking patients again this weekend.
On May 8, the hospital announced they were only accepting critical care patients because of a COVID-19 outbreak. At the time, this impacted 40 beds at the hospital, which was at around 92 % capacity. The Hospital had to send these patients to Ingersoll and Woodstock. They did have a plan to also send patients to Simcoe, if need be, but they didn't reach that point.
Over the weekend, the hospital opened up most of those beds. Since the outbreak was declared a total of 14 patients and 5 staff members tested positive. Three people have died during the outbreak, the most recent death was reported this morning and was a resident of Haldimand Norfolk.
Currently 6 patients who tested positive have been sent home. The Hospital will be doing another round of swab testing for all patients and staff tomorrow. They are hopeful the outbreak will be declared over soon.
