Former Oxford County teacher Dawn Dennison is the 2014 Oxford Stewardship Award winner.
OXFORD COUNTY - Thamesford resident Dawn Dennison is the 2014 Oxford Stewardship Award winner.
Dennison was presented the award in Council Chambers Wednesday morning and says she's thrilled by the win.
"I have a field that boarders the Thames River that was showing a few areas of erosion and Upper Thames (Conservation Authority) suggested that tree planting would help control the problem, so I asked them to get involved. They came and they planted 1650 little trees on the slope towards the river."
Dennison says her property boarders the middle branch of the Thames River.
This year's runners-up included Gerrit and Margriet Wensink of East Zorra Tavistock and Ryan and Jayne Green from Zorra.
As part of her win, Dennison received a $500 gift certificate towards the purchase of a work of art by local artist Rhonda Franks.
