Brant County will host a special plaque unveiling ceremony at the Bawcutt Centre on November 20th, as the historical building prepares to reopen its doors to the public.
PARIS - The County of Brant is getting ready to host a plaque unveiling Ceremony at the Bawcutt Centre.
Chair of the Bawcutt Centre Advisory Committee, Kathryn Carter says the Paris landmark holds a key part in Ontario architectural history and is rarely used.
"But if you go inside this structure it is the most amazing vision that you can possibly imagine. The top floor of this structure is basically an untouched 19th century opera house with this beautiful Gothic architecture; it really is an unknown architectural gem in all of Ontario and Canada."
Carter also discusses the plans for the centre in the future.
"We're going through all the processes right now of determining what kinds of programming should be in there, what kinds of architectural restoration do we want to do, how would we bring this back to its former glory, how best can it serve the people of Brant County and what would all of the people of Brant County want to see in this space"
The ceremony will take place on November 20th at 1pm. It will feature multiple guest speakers; including Mayor Ron Eddy talking about the heritage and significance this building has to the province.
