City Engineer Harold de Haan updates us on the current road construction projects and tells us what we can expect next.
WOODSTOCK - Those traveling around the city may be rerouted due to construction especially if you are looking to drive along Springbank Ave.
Motorists have received tickets over the last several weeks after driving passed 'Road Closed' signs on Springbank and traffic in that part of Woodstock is about to get worse. City Engineer Harold de Haan explains the reconstruction and what still has to take place on that particular stretch of roadway. "Springbank from Nellis St. to James St. is currently under construction - we hope to have the construction done by mid September. The intersection of Dundas and Springbank will be closed beginning next week, however we are hoping that the intersection at James and Springbank will be open again next week. Also currently the intersection at Nellis and Springbank is open."
Motorists that decide to disobey the 'Road Closed' sign could end up paying a $110 ticket from Woodstock Police. De Haan explains what other roads are currently being worked on and those that have plans to be reconstructed before the end of the fall. "The only other road under construction right now is Riddell St. from Devonshire to Ingersoll Ave; we expect that construction to end at the end of this month. After that we've got coming up Belgrave will be reconstructed, a portion of Oxford St. will be reconstructed, Northland, and Princess Street."
De Haan spoke with Heart FM about the largest road closure currently taking place in the city better known as Streetfest. "Streetfest is resulting in road closures basically from Bay and Beale or Huron St. - if you are a truck all the way to Vansittart Avenue. That whole section there is closed with north and south traffic also having to go around either to Van Ave. or to Huron Street, and that is just to the weekend - 'til Sunday."
