The annual event returns to the village bigger than ever
EMBRO - The familiar roar of trucks and tractors will be returning to Embro this coming weekend. New to the event this year after a slight change in schedule is the Big Creek Tractor Pullers that use mini tractors to pull large loads. Secretary and Volunteer Coordinator for the Embro Tractor Pull, Virginia Dibble, explains how there will be numerous events for people of all ages including young children. "We're hoping for 5,500 to 6,000 people this year which is on par from the last 2 years. Younger kids they love the horse pulls, we also have a bouncy castle and a giant inflatable slide for them, and that is all free of cost with their admission. We understand we need to keep them busy when mom and dad want to watch the pulls and sometimes they are not into that, the rides definitely keep them busy."
As the machines will be slinging mud and revving their engines all weekend long in Embro, Dibble is hopeful that the slightly modified schedule will bring more people to the village. "We've changed our schedule up a little bit compared to normal, so Friday night we'll have all of our heavy farm stock tractors. Saturday we will start at 10:30 with our horse pulls, the Big Creek Tractor Pullers is new for us this year so we are pretty excited to have them."
With the pull beginning on Friday Dibble knows the importance of giving the money raised from the event back into the community. "We always try to give back the proceeds that we make either to Embro or to the Oxford County community. We're definitely hoping to make money and donate it back to the community somehow." The pull will start on Friday go until Saturday evening with events happening for children as well. Admission is $25 for a two day adult pass, $8 for children 5-12, children under 5 are free.
