Are you man enough? That's the rallying cry for the "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes" event. The 5th annual is coming up this Saturday morning at the Southside Park Boathouse. It's an event where men in the community come together and put on a pair of high heels and wobble out for a 1-mile walk. While they are literally walking a mile in women's shoes, they are symbolically taking a stand against domestic violence. Barb Wright of Domestic Assault Services Oxford says it's a very significant event. "It involves the entire community. Most important, it lets men take the lead. They're the ones that are out there saying 'Yes, we need to do something to make sure our community is safe for everyone. We need to put an end to violence against women and children.'" Proceeds raised from the event go to the sexual assault programs at DASO. Registration starts at 10 a.m., and participants are invited, and pre-registration is encouraged by clicking here. Look for Heart FM's Adam Nyp, Dan Henry and John Harada, who will be participating in the walk again this year. You can find Heart FM's team page here.
