Why Not Us is hoping to see their Kendall Courts Project up and running in the next couple of years.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock City Council has had an exclusive look at the Kendall Courts Project. Why Not Us has been fundraising for the outdoor basketball facility for about four years now.
President Todd Materick says it would be a state of the art facility.
"What makes our basketball court different than any other basketball court is pavilion style court that can block the elements like rain and sun. We have snap court flooring which is better on your joints and your knees so you have prolonged life in playing basketball. It's going to be fully accessible which is important."
Materick adds the facility could also bring in some competitors from out of town.
"If we get the right specs we can qualify to host three on three qualifying basketball tournaments. Right now Saskatoon is the only city in Canada that current falls under that to have qualifying tournaments."
The project is currently in the planning and fundraising phase, as the organization prepares for their 6th Street Mayor Classic Tournament.
Materick hopes to see the courts up and running in the next couple of years.
