TILLSONBURG - The fair older than the town itself is ready for another year in Tillsonburg. Celebrating its 161st year and by only charging $5 admission a large crowd is what the Tri-County Agricultural Society are hoping for on August 13-16th. President of the Tillsonburg Fair, Mike Dean, breaks down what to expect when you attend. "Thursday night we have opening ceremonies at 6:30, Friday night we have Lucas Wilson an Illusionist, then on Saturday David James Carter will be on our main stage, and Sunday night we have our famous demolition derby. We have a touch a truck where we've got fire trucks, cement trucks, transport truck just for all the kids to come and touch and play."
As fair season is set to begin Tillsonburg is prepared to hold their fair and Dean talks about how they have been able to keep their admission prices remarkably low. "Every year we try to add a little bit more to the fair to make it a little better value, we dropped our admission hoping that people would spend more on the midway. We noticed an increase the last two years and if you are just coming through the fair it is cheaper for you." Dean promises they are going to give families the biggest bang for their buck.
It has been running since 1854 and Dean explains why everyone should make the drive to Tillsonburg. "We've been 161 years going with our fair it is actually older than the town of Tillsonburg itself. We think it is very valuable and we strive to keep it going even sometimes when we have lost money, just because it is such an iconic thing that is always been the third weekend in August in Tillsonburg. We hope to have the best value for your dollar and we would love to see you there." The fair equipped with the midway can be found at the Tillsonburg Fairgrounds.
