The Tillsonburg Hurricanes have kicked off their training camps at the Woodstock Community Complex with new jerseys.
TILLSONBURG - The Tillsonburg Hurricanes are gearing up for their next season in the Greater Metro Hockey League.
They welcomed local and international players to the Woodstock Community Complex last night for their training camp.
Club Owner and President Ian Ellis says they're looking to build a strong roster this year.
"We anticipate a top 3 finish in the league this year. Our goal is to aim for 300 plus goals, which will get us into our target zone for a good run in the playoffs."
Tillsonburg's Griffin Sinden will be coming back this year, after he was runner up for Rookie of the Year with 72 points last season. The team has picked up Russian player Ivan Bondarenko; who was once the fifth top scorer in the WSHL.
Ellis says the team will also be sporting new jerseys.
"We're going away from the 'T' with the swirl on the crest and just going with 'CANES' with three stars across the breast of the jersey. They look pretty sharp so we're excited to bring that new look out this year."
Their home opener will take place on Friday October 5th. They will be hosting the Niagara On The Lake Nationals on the Memorial Ice Pad. The two teams will also meet again in Tillsonburg on Saturday October 6th.
