The Toys for Big Boys Event on Thursday raised over $65,000 for the United Way Oxford.
WOODSTOCK - The Toys for Big Boys was a smashing success in it's inaugural year.
The event raised $65,123 at the Oxford Auditorium on Thursday for the United Way Oxford. All of the money raised at the Toys for Big Boys will stay in the community and be distributed the various charities and not for profit organizations affiliated with the United Way Oxford.
It was a packed House at the Aud for the event. Those who attended had a chance to eat some great food, drink some delicious beers and scotch and bid on some pretty cools toys like power boats, sea doo's and ATV's. There was a raffle table and a live auction portion of the night, which helped contribute to the total raised and added an element of entertainment to the evening. Alongside product demonstrations and advice from local experts, there were also interactive components to experience, such as a live band, virtual reality simulator, the Bauer Hockey Shooting Zone, Craigowan’s Golf Target practice and wine tasting's.
Executive Director of the United Way Kelly Gilson says they could not have asked for a better first year.
"Everyone there had a great time. It’s always nice to see so many people out supporting local events and our community. We would like to thank everyone for coming out and sharing the night with us and making it such a success."
Event Lead and United Way Oxford Campaign Cabinet Chair Leslie Farrell says the support we have received from local businesses and partners has been incredible!
"It was more than we ever could have hoped for in our first year of putting on this event, and we are excited to see how it will grow for future years."
