Shaw's Ice Cream in St. Thomas is celebrating their 70th anniversary this year and are opening a new manufacturing plant in Tillsonburg.
TILLSONBURG - Shaw's Ice Cream is getting ready for a big manufacturing expansion as they celebrate their 70th anniversary in 2018.
This October the St. Thomas based business will expand their manufacturing capabilities to a new state of the art production facility in Tillsonburg Ontario just minutes down the road from their current processing plant. Their landmark Dairy bar will continue to run "business as usual" at their Sunset Road location where the retail part of the business is shared with the current manufacturing plant.
Co-owner Kelly Heleniak says the move will not only help the business, but also the local job market.
"With new state of the art equipment and the efficiencies that we'll have at our new Tillsonburg plant we'll be able to produce more ice cream, create more jobs in Tillsonburg and get Shaw's Ice Cream into new places that we haven't been to before."
Heleniak says they will have some job postings up this fall. The open positions will include forklift operators, truck drivers, production plant workers and administrative staff.
Those interested will be able to contact Shaw's through their website.
Shaw's Ice Cream was established in 1948. They produce hard ice cream with flavours including Vanilla, Chocolate, Rocky Road and Mint Chip. They also have soft serve and frozen yogurt mixes.
