OXFORD COUNTY -Oxford County is launching a new web project called "Untold Stories."
The Oxford County Archives is launching a new web archiving project for preserving online history and stories for underrepresented and equity-seeking groups.
Megan Lockhart, the archive technician for Oxford County Archives, says that this is a collaboration between communities to better preserve Oxford History after they discovered a lack of historical records from local cultural groups and organizations.
"We have a couple of collaborators we have been partnering with, that includes the Muslim Association of Woodstock, the Oxford Caribbean Canadian Association, the Oxford Local Immigration Partnership, Oxford County Pride, the Oxford Housing Action Collaborative, and Heather Rennalls, who has a blog about local black history, who is a historian."
This will be an ongoing project, with the archive welcoming communities or groups who want to connect or share their stories.
Community groups who are interested in having web content archived can contact the archives at archives@oxfordcounty.ca or at 519-538-9800 Ext. 3071.
Those interested in viewing the online archives can head online here.
