UTRCA: Drought Effects Could be Long Lasting

It's 6 consecutive months of below normal precipitation for our region. The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority says average stream flows are at record lows for this time of year. The authority fears that dry conditions may start to affect water supplies for people with wells, and could impact groundwater levels into next year. Both the UTRCA and Grand River watershed remain in Level 2 low water advisories. The Upper Thames has organized a series of river clean-up days in London, with fears that the effects of pollution will be magnified with water levels at record lows. The clean-up will start next Thursday, August 9th at Watson St. Park in London. It will start at 4PM.
