Applications are open for two citizen volunteer positions with the Oxford County Library Board for the rest of the current board term, which ends in 2022.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Oxford County Library is looking for two citizen volunteers to bring on to their board.
The positions are to be served for the remainder of the current board term ending in 2022.
CEO and Chief Librarian Lisa Miettenen says you must be a resident of one of the participating municipalities to apply.
"I think we're looking for somebody who really has a strong sense of the importance of public libraries in the community. Somebody who maybe has leadership or planning experience, some business acumen, community connections."
She says you must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and anyone living in the County, expect for residents of Woodstock, has to be at least 18 years old to apply.
As a board member, the County says you will help ensure the municipalities in the region are provided with comprehensive, efficient public library services.
Miettenen explains some of the board's responsibilities.
"The library meets at least seven times a year, they have seven regular business meetings per year. There may be other meetings as well for strategic and tactical planning, touring our library branches so that they get a sense of the library services we provide through the County."
She says there will be an agenda package handed out prior to the meeting, and board members are expected to read all of the material so they can be prepared for discussions.
Among the responsibilities would include delegating authority to the Chief Executive Officer in a clear and appropriate manner.
For those who are interested in applying, you're asked to submit an application that includes your resume by February 6th. The applications must be submitted, either in writing or by email, by no later than 4:00 pm.
You can submit the application to:
