It's Public Works week the public is invited to get a sneak peek at the water and waste water treatment plants.
The two waste water treatment plants in Oxford County are opening up their doors today.
They are hosting two open houses from 3 to 7 pm at the plant in Woodstock on Admiral Street and the Tavistock plant on William Street. Waste Water Treatment Supervisor Don Ford talks about some of the things you will learn on the tour.
"Well if anyone is ever interested in what happens after they flush their toilet, what happens next it really all happens at the treatment plant, I think they will be interested to see all of the different equipment as well as the micro organisms that treat the waste. The waste water that we generate would have an impact on the surface water the rivers and our drinking water, so it is important that is treated so that we can all use the rivers and the drinking water and it is an important environmental thing to do."
Everyone is invited to stop by and take the tour which will last for about 45 minutes. This is all part of Public Works week and the Public Works department in Oxford has been hosting Open Houses all week.
