"John didn't mean to kill him, just teach him a lesson." That's what key witness Amy Gilbert told the court Monday during her cross examination. Gilbert is the lone witness to the alleged attack that her former boyfriend John Robinson inflicted on Clifford Fair. Robinson is facing a charge of 1st degree murder, and has pleaded guilty to indignity to a human body. Gilbert previously testified that Robinson struck Fair twice in the head with a steel pipe, rendering him lifeless on their livingroom floor. Gilbert agreed with defence attorney Anik Morrow, that Robinson didn't want to kill Fair, just teach him a lesson. Gilbert also testified she helped Robinson move Fair's body to the basement door. The defence also tried to prove the witness wasn't credible due to her bi-polar disorder, her alcohol abuse, and recreational drug use. Robinson meanwhile appeared calm, even taking notes throughout the day, he is charged with first degree murder, and has already pleaded guilty to indignity to a body. The trial will resume Wednesday.
