This years event raised almost 4 times more money for the CMHA walk in counselling than last years event.
WOODSTOCK - This years Women and Wellness event raised over $16,500 dollars for the CMHA Oxford's Walk-In Counselling Clinics.
Over 150 people came together for the breakfast on October 1st. The guest speaker was Jenilee Cook talked about learning to own my story and love myself in the process. Chair of the event Shirley McCall-Hanlon says the main purpose of the event is education.
"To get the word out there that we need to talk about the mental health challenges that our community, our family, our friends, ourselves may be having and to be able to talk about that openly. So the event starts out as education and we also have it as a fundraising opportunity. The event itself started probably 10 to 12 years ago in the Maritimes by a CMHA branch out there and we picked up on this about 3 years ago and had our first event last year."
McCall-Hanlon says they raised four times more money this year for the walk in clinics than last year. She adds a lot of people worked hard to make this event a huge success.

This overwhelming success is due in a large part to our local Community Sponsors who stepped forward to support this awesome event, Zonta Club of Woodstock, Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation and Destinations Travel & Cruise Centre. To numerous local businesses, individuals and organizations across Oxford and beyond who willingly donated their products, and to all who and attended and supported this fund raising event, our sincere appreciation.
