Woodstock Candidate Profile - Mark Schadenberg

Mark Schadenberg has decided to run for the city county councillor position, after serving as a city councillor for the past eight years.

WOODSTOCK - He's looking for a seat on Woodstock City Council and Oxford County Council.

Mark Schadenberg is finishing his second term as a city councillor, and he has decided to run for the city county councillor position this fall.

"I've got the experience and a long time residency in the City of Woodstock to be able to continue as a city councillor, but I want an extra challenge to move up to Oxford County Council as well. There are certainly some items on county council's agenda like homelessness and the new Official Plan that I certainly want to participate in the discussions there."

He wants to be involved in the planning of the new Homelessness Service Centre and see how Operation Sharing could be involved.

Schadenberg has been a member of Woodstock Recreation Advisory Committee for the past 25 years, serving about 7 or 8 of those years as the Chair. However, he wants to make it clear that he's interested in more than just sports.

"Things like history and art in the City of Woodstock are also very important to me. Also learning about the other infrastructure items and other items on the horizon such as a third fire hall, or police and fire, and also transit."

Schadenberg also writes for his own blog in his personal time and you can check it out online here.

The municipal election is scheduled for October 26th.
